Re: Jaguar?

Why does an electric car have such a long bonnet, that's what I'm wondering.

The I-Pace is a clever design because it's a ground up electric car that maximises interior space (more space that an XJ I think I remember reading). Now this?

Re: Redundancy

I'm leaving before I'm pushed Alex, either in this round or the next, but as I'm in the sales org will be going onto gardening leave from Monday onwards. Nothing lined up yet - got a couple of interviews in the offing but will be taking some time to recharge over Christmas and do some bits around th...

Re: Decent car YouTubes

On the collection, I'm sort of torn. On the one hand they've preserved some real rare cars, like the MG SV and the AMG Black. On the other they said that there were a few more of the RS Focus off site, and I'm wondering 'why'? That just gets to hoarding rather than collecting and preserving doesn't ...

Re: Is there any substance to astrology?

My 4 year old nephew in Brazil went running into the kitchen a couple of weeks ago proclaiming 'Mummy, I've killed a scorpion in my bedroom'.

And sure enough, he had. Hard as nails!

(And lucky).

Link please? I never knew that was a thing.

Chris Hayward, policy chairman of the City of London Corporation, said the decision represented a "positive new chapter" for the markets as it "empowers traders to build a sustainable future in premises that align with their long-term business goals". He added: "By stepping...

5.5% rise in value for agricultural land over the last 12 months which would equal £180k increase in value on £4m of land. That's a pretty decent return, especially given the aforementioned relief on various taxes. Get the farm contracted out so that it's still in use and you're basically printing ...

Re: Bye bye Starmer

First, why should it matter how many beneficiaries there are of an estate (though I'm not sure if that is part of your point)? A couple with a few millions in assets on death and one child shouldn't have their estate taxed differently to a similarly wealthy couple who have 4 kids and 16 grandchildr...

Re: Bye bye Starmer

I don’t hate that idea tbh. I knew we could find some common ground. ;) A large estate of an elderly relative that's distributed amongst maybe a dozen or more offspring, grandchildren, cousins, etc etc shouldn't be taxed at 40% out of the gate. Let's shift the burden to the recipient, and it would ...

Still a long way from anything but a tiny minority though. I said before I don’t necessarily have a problem with making the threshold higher. Make it £3mil with no exemptions or allowances. If IHT is really sticking around then yes, a more realistic threshold is better. Another idea that I heard th...

According to Reeves herself, in her budget speech, it's 6% now. And that number is only going up.
