Re: Your fleet running reports

Be careful of radar cruise though - it can lull you into a false sense of security. The one on my Merc will only brake up to 50% of maximum available braking effort, so if the car on the front stands on the brakes for whatever reason the system will detect that and start beeping and warning that it'...

Re: Porsche Taycan first drive - Fully Charged

A few weeks ago I thought of a new name for a Porsche BEV that would be the first of it's kind from the manufacturer, but it was Taycan.

Re: eBay 996 build thread

Did they have to remove the engine to get the head off or can you do it in situ?

Stupid selfish lazy old hags

Went out to the Portuguese cafe this morning for breakfast, as we often do. Parked in the layby opposite. When I come to drive home the layby is blocked by a woman who's parked on the double yellows part of it just so she can pop into 'Bargain Booze' (it's 9am, so christ knows what she wants at that...

Ceiling light / fan combos

Just finishing the new office room, ready to vacate the old office room to turn that into a nursery. So, the last thing I need is a ceiling fan / light thingy. I've seen a few, but I don't understand why they do things the way they do. I don't want any pull cords, I want a remote control. Similarly,...

Re: eBay 996 build thread

Sod it, so I guess that's around £1500-£1800 all in? So you're £10k into the car. Still peanuts for a 996 really.

Re: eBay 996 build thread

Is that the only crack? Can it just be welded then have the welds cleaned up then put it back?

Failing that, how much is a 'new' head (BTW, I think you're right to persevere with this car).

0.75x FTW then

Next :D
Mike's out of luck. If it feels like watching it at 1.25x then to get to 1x he'd need to watch it at 0.8x which isn't an option on YT...

Interesting stuff. Those rods are mad, the honda k20c rods are the same - they're literally pulled apart in manufacture.
Ford's /(Mazda's) Duratec is the same. They 'snap' the end of the rod off during assembly in a big 'snip'.

Repair quote is very steep (not least because of the fancy Honda pearl paint) so have to put it through insurance.
