Re: Bye Bye Rachel Reeves

Unless it’s under the mattress, their money is in circulation, and most people of wealth have successfully made their money, which means they’ve probably taken their businesses elsewhere too
Or… they’ve got it in their property and pension pots which they were going to spend over 30 years ...

Re: Bye Bye Rachel Reeves

You can be sure that it'll be further talk of 'broadest shoulders' etc, ignoring the elephant in the room of:

1) Stagnant wage growth in the uk, when you exclude those on the minimum wage
2) Extremely low levels of income taxation by those on lower incomes, massively skewing the burden to those on ...

Re: Bye Bye Rachel Reeves

Is there a list of benefits you start to lose out on at 50k, I think the child allowance you reduce till 60k and then you don't get any.

I wonder what the actual difference is between 40k and 60k in take home for a family of 4 when things like this are taken into account.

Dave!

Re: Selling Property

The house next door to us has finished being re-built and is on the market. I was chatting to the builder and they had a flurry of interest when it first went on and then nothing.

Re: Maths

When universities were 'free' far fewer went. I suspect we could go back to that model with the same %age of grads, or we can have 50%+ going to uni and having to pay.

There was decision in the Blair government to use Universities as an engine of social mobility. A university education ...

Just like when the same song was used to mock the PS3 launch.

Re: Gaming 2023

Not trying to be contrary, but I'm not enjoying BF6 much anymore. TTK is insanely low, netcode feels like once you're hit you're dead, there's nowhere to get cover, maps are too small and performance variance across the maps is very large. Overall I find myself going back to 2042 a lot because that ...

Despite cars getting 'bigger' they aren't really getting larger on the inside. There is just more and more 'stuff' between the occupants and the outside world.

I'm more interested about the lines that 'residents permits in the city centre would be scrapped'. So, if you happen to live in the city centre just basically fuck off then? Christ what a way to treat your residents and tax payers.

Re: Vodafone outage…

I was working at Voda when they had the big network outage in 2010. It was a broadcast storm ultimately. I remember their CTO standing over a colleagues shoulder whilst he was trying to diagnose it in a comms room. The war room was chaos. Nobody had a clue. I think misconfigured spanning tree caused ...
