Re: what car thread - Lotus Edition
Cost me about £3.5k to overhaul my suspension on my S2 including Nitrons, Spitfire toe links, bushes, etc and everything cleaned and shotblasted (with HPE). But that was years ago, so probably more like 5-6k now just for that alone. Plus brakes, plus engine work, plus the other fancy shiny bits. It'...

Re: what car thread - Lotus Edition
Had some good chats today that have given me some more food for thought - there’s a guy who’s selling a K20 Elise on a facebook group. It’s a slightly scruffy example that he’s in the process of refurbishing (he has another one he’s already done too). he described the conversion as functional, but ...

Re: Decent car YouTubes
While in isolation I like the look, having it sit so high blocking the centre console ruins the overall asthetic. Still....can't see many people going for this given originality is probably a key factor in value.

Re: Your fleet running reports
The Up! now at 60k and just had another service. Once again, no advisories. Still rolling exactly as it left the factory, bar new tyres. I've owned it 5 years now, the longest I've ever owned a car - and I'd love to change it just for something different, but I can't find anything else that fits the...

Re: Randomness
It's probably as I'm old, but I had no idea who he was until this crash, comments on here and Reddit suggest he's a bellend and this isn't unsual for him. However 15m subs on Youtube (plus whatever other socials) and millions of pounds launched from a career of flipping pens....no wonder other kids ...

Re: Servicing costs.
Maybe things have changed, but many years ago when I looked at Caymans it seemed to be considered essential (after asking on a few groups) to service with Porsche for residuals, especially in the first 5 years or so - most Porsche buyers tended to be non-car people who wanted the history/warranty/as...

Re: what car thread - Lotus Edition
Always been a fan on the K-Series...my 135 was an absolute peach of an engine. Quite a few, including EVO, rated the S1 135 Sport as being the best S1 of them all. Anyway, enough of this. I've found the car for you Rich. Close the thread, get it bought: https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/20240...

Re: Chris Pollitt's Freedom
He started popping up on my feed a quite a while ago, I think because a few people I followed commented on his posts. Kinda peaked my curiosity when I read about his wife/partner banishing him to the garage, then more so when the GoFundMe or whatever started doing the rounds (which I also found stra...

Re: what car thread - Lotus Edition
On the subject of S1 Exiges, after my pilgramage to Essex in the week with the comfort of the Giulia, it reminded me that I did the same 6-hour round trip in my Exige  Made even worse by the fact that it kept melting the fuel pump fuse, and after about 90mins I'd have to pull over, reach over m...

Re: what car thread - Lotus Edition
I think I’d save up a little longer or take out some finance and get an s1 exige because to my eyes they’re just about perfect. I doubt you’ll lose any money on any of them, try a few and buy whatever looks and feels right. They look nice but they’re shit to drive by 21st century standards. Slow as...

Re: what car thread - Lotus Edition
Yes @Rich B, these are the topics of correctness.
As mentioned, you need to drive one/many - but I found my last S2 (135bhp) to not be enough....so I'd want at least 160bhp in an S1, and avoid the S2/S3's with the 134bhp 1.6.

Re: CCA Auction results
£20k for a TME and £25k for a P1 seems 'cheap' relative to what some of the stuff has been selling for recently...? Seems the classic market has been a bit slower year.

Re: FAO: Duncs, Walshy Training Day
this sounds brilliant - what is it that reduces the risk and consumable wear compared to a normal track day? You don't get as much time out as you would on a trackday (I did 20 miles all day, some of which was pottering between activities) and when you do, you're not reaching very high speeds but i...

Re: FAO: Duncs, Walshy Training Day
I think if you love your car and driving it's a magnificent way to both spend a day and also just remind yourself of the behavior of your car on and beyond the absolute limit. I guess a TD also works but you wouldn't be encouraged to get out of shape in the same way. For me that massive reduction i...

Re: Your fleet running reports
I'm in a couple of M135i groups on the old Facebook, and it seems that once or twice a week there's a "My sports cat failed the MOT" post, usually followed by 'has anyone got a standard cat for sale'. Often mixed in with people asking how much standard cats are selling for cos they've put...
