Re: Michael Collins

Amen - certainly the most articulate and interesting of the Apollo 11 astronauts. "Carrying The Fire" is, I think, the best book to come out of the 1960s NASA space programme.

Re: The House Projects Thread

After a couple of years on this one, from acquisition to practical completion, I can honestly say that the best bit of a house project is when the builders piss off, and one can move in and enjoy it.

It's a niche interest - if you don't understand, you probably don't want to know.
Apparently they do, though. Interesting.
It’s important to be open to new experiences.

Alright?
Yeah, same. Still in London, still quixotically keeping the 928 on the road, still driving like an utter cunt 60% of the time because I now have a hybrid SUV.

The lume is spectacular, too - the Planet Ocean isn't exactly under-lumed, but Darth literally lights up the room.

It doesn't dance while it walks though.

Re: The Watches Thread

And on Tunas more generally, I managed to snag a nice Darth on eBay of all places, a bit of a punt but the price was sensible and the only issue was a mangled pair of screws where someone had tried to remove the shroud. I ended up having to dremel a slot into each chewed screw head, so I could use a...

Re: The Watches Thread

SUN019 is a massive lump, that's a good shout Simon. There's a guy on the TZ-UK forum selling an SNJ025 "Arnie" reissue for £315, if analogue-digital is acceptable. Plastic shroud, but hell, Schwarzenegger points, right? There are SNE-series "Solar Tunas" available too - e.g. htt...

Re: The Watches Thread

Reason I'm looking to change is that my old watch was getting increasingly uncomfortable to wear at 295g. The Seiko is smaller at 47mm (compared to 52mm) and very nearly half the weight, but still a big watch that visually appeals. Holy crapola, that’s a big old lump! For what it’s worth, the Tunas...

Greetings chaps. Thought I’d look in, for old times’ sake. DJ - if you want a good heavy watch that will survive the odd use as a ballistic encourager, the GMW-B5000 “full metal” Gs are your friend. Just avoid the titanium ones, they’re too light. ;) Duncs, yeah, loads - although the Snowflake is st...

Re: Guess how much?

The price for a stainless steel, custom-made, made to measure back box is £200 including fitting. I couldn't believe how cheap it was! Needless to say, it's booked in and I paid a deposit there and then. Encouragingly, he's booked up til the end of May, but I managed to get a cancellation for the 1...

Re: The Watches Thread

Considering a new watch, down to two options: GA-2100 (same version as Jody has) or a Seiko SNE497P1 https://storage.seikowatches.com/image/2020/11/19043924118376/0/SNE497P1.png They're about the same size, but the Seiko is more than double the weight and four times the cost, but I'm tempted. Perso...

His speech was good tho - cant fault that. Don't know - didn't hear it. But then, I am more inclined to feed that ghastly cunt through a woodchipper than I am to hearing syllable that emerges from the hole in his face. If the premise of his speech is flawed, though, the quality of the oratory isn't...
