Re: The House Projects Thread
not going to get a window to fit on the Shart are you? I'm going to assume the shart is built on a very windy brown field site. My mate lives in The Shart and had to get a new window fitted. He got a quote from a glazier, but they didn’t follow through. I've got a friend running his tailoring busin...

Re: The House Projects Thread
A thought. It it possible to do the tiling to make an optical illusion? So that you let your eyes cross and it reveals a shape?
Probably best testing this to make sure the builder hasn’t hidden eg a cock in the tile.

https://i.imgur.com/ULJWEaO.jpeg A friend who is renovating their very similar house in Chiswick has done exactly the same. Unfortunately the precise right angles of the pattern have made it more obvious that the building is not completely parallel with the street, which is doing her OCD nut in...

Re: West Suffolk meet?
My uncle has a holiday place in Cavendish (near Long Melford) which could serve as a base of operations if the timing is right.

Re: Your Restomod
I think the other draw is to make the car you wish they had made. For this reason I always fancied making a Jaguar X-type R. Oooh, interesting, what sort of spec are you thinking? I don't know if Noble turbots would fit (they probably would in an ali XJ...) but the Volvo V8 might - I'm sure I've se...

Re: Your Restomod
I think part of the restomod fun is dipping into the cottage industries around well loved classics and seeing what is available, what specialists are out there to tinker for you, etc. I think an original mini would be great for these reasons as there is so much stuff out there to play with. I think ...

Re: West Suffolk meet?
I'm in Ely, so in.
Not sure about decent roads around there. There is a nice one leading to Lavenham, which also has a great pub.
(to me West Suffolk = Bury St Edmunds... or were you more thinking Newmarket?)

Re: Crumbing parents
The care system is hard to understand, made even harder by the fact that a lot of the social workers and other people in the system don't seem to understand it either! Mum needs to go into a nursing home. Their weekly fee is £1585. There are slightly cheaper ones out there, but not by much and this ...
Re: Jaguar?
@Explosive Newt segway : I followed Peter on twitter for months (as car guy and fan of piggery smokery bacon) and he casually mentioned one day that he was the inventor of the 80's backflash. Didn't even mention it in his bio at that time.... has added it now Fantastic claim to fame. You don't thin...
Re: Jaguar?
It says that is called a 'strike through' which is something I once had rushing for the train after a potent tandoori. Just reminds me of the 80's "Backflash" rear window graphics (which is it surprisingly hard to find images of.....) https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Fs7hFXdWIAIpP_U?format=jpg...

I mean, they are still using the leaper. I dunno why Mito didn't think to include it. https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/new-cars/jaguar-reveals-new-logo-and-branding-ev-reinvention https://www.autocar.co.uk/sites/autocar.co.uk/files/styles/gallery_slide/public/images/car-reviews/first-drives/legac...

Re: Your fleet running reports
I was a bit anxious about leaving the Tesla parked up for a month while I was away on a sabbatical. Set the battery to 60% max charge and left it plugged in. I wondered if it would need a move up and down the drive periodically to keep anything from seizing up but decided that the benefits of asking...
