My Dad had one of those Falcons - we all closed our eyes and braced when a big roo cleared the road and bonnet in one bound as we skirted the Tidbinbilla Reserve, doing about 75/80 mph

Re: Bloody Hell, someone bought a Lambo...

1470kg ‘wet weight’, 1440kg with Weissach package 1545 is the "EU unladen" weight quoted on the Porsche website. No idea what that actually means, though  Yeah, just looked into it, 1470 is ‘DIN’ so all the fluids, ‘EU’ adds 75kg accounted for the driver. Lambo figure 1376kg is DIN. ...

Re: Those perfect motoring moments...

When a number of otherwise fairly ordinary moments come together to provide pleasure... Late on Sunday afternoon, I (finally) got to take my Mum's Z4 out for a drive. It's nothing special, a 2011, "wrong" straight six version (the 25, not the 30), manuel. I've not driven a manual for ages...

Well, if I never wanted one before, I want a GT2RS even more now - although I guess it'll have to be an old one rather than one with that slurring box change

Re: Five years of CSL ownership.

Do you still prefer your 968 though? As a driver's car, yes. More of a mechanical feel to the controls and due to the lower COG, it feels better balanced and just a tad more engaging. I prefer the M3 when temps go above 25c though, as it has AC 😆 (I cannot confirm how rusted the pipes are on the in...

Yep, I've now owned the speed-holed one for five years. https://i.imgur.com/bB3OyOt.jpg 5 years - Good going Marv - a 1400kg six pot E46 with quick steering and a rorty factory zorst is a good thing no doubt 8-) Looks nice - often considered getting a normal manual box M3 or CS but I'm too keen on ...

Re: FAO Dave The Explosive Newt

A lot of grip but a bit let down by the brakes imo. Still you can chuck it into a lot of corners with abandon then be surprised that you have appeared right as rain on the other side, and lining up a series of S-bends remains fun because of the revvy AJP30 V6. Lacks something of the alacrity of my ...

Re: FAO Dave The Explosive Newt

Yeah, the X-type got pretty rave reviews at the time (a couple of UK rags giving it good reviews you could dismiss, but I don't recall any bad reviews, period, handling wise), and no-one really has a bad thing to say about them today yet. Mondeo underpinnings might sound 'cheap' but the Mondeo was ...

Re: FAO Dave The Explosive Newt

a high spec 04 X-type 3 litre I picked up for peanuts to do the M40-M25-A1 run every weekend. I shall choose to ignore the Mondeo comments but I did a Porsche track day last week and was reminded how dynamically wank it is. Although it is fun to surprise some sportier numbers with the accelleration...
