Re: Motorway Mile Munchers

Just drove down to south Devon in the Cayman and driving at legalish speeds we got 31.5 mpg. Knocking around Derbyshire normally returns about 26mpg. Does that make it eligible for the list of motorway mile munchers? ;)

Re: Car Hire Lottery

I got offered only PDK Porsches when I had my car serviced at the suppling dealers and I said I didn't do non GT cars on religious grounds. They were a little surprised and apologetically asked if a Cooper S would be acceptable for the day. It was fine. Opportunity missed there! 😁 You could be righ...

Re: EV Thread

Saloons and estates, I’ve a mental barrier of 2 tons. SUVs shouldn’t be over 2.3 tons. Hatches under 1.5 tons. Super minis 1.2 tons. When cars are above those figures I just think badly designed lard boxes. Dave! I always describe my car as a sensible 3-door hatchback. Just checked and its DIN weig...

Re: Cayman/Boxter RIP.

Wow! Really? Are the UK rules stricter than EU, or are they just giving up everywhere? Blimey that's a shame! :( Seems to be EU-wide according to this article . Don't worry @PaulJ - they promise an EV successor as soon as 2025 :( Afraid I still consider all electric vehicles to be appliances, and n...

Cayman/Boxter RIP.

I just heard that the Porsche Cayman and Boxster models have been withdrawn from sale in the UK due to them not meeting the latest standards of cyber security. Apparently it would cost to much to upgrade them for the two years before the electric replacement appears. Having had 3 Boxsters and...

Re: Up GTi door seal leak.

As feared our door seal leak has been fixed using the expensive method, and we pick up an orange new/pre-registered Abarth 595 Turismo on Friday. We got £9300 trade-in which I suppose is good for a 5 and a half year old car that cost about £16k new. Sad times, but still a reasonable price....didn't...

Re: OV9 Political Party

Road tax based on height and weight of vehicle. Using my car as an example, I would pay none, all SUV/crossover's tax would double and Caterham owners would receive a £200 grant towards costs for cheering up the road-scape.

All speed humps to be recycled and used to fill potholes.

This is kind of the 2024 version of replacing a car 'cos the ashtrays are full. Hope she enjoys it 8-) You've just made me think Mik. I don't recall if the Up even has a...

Re: Your fleet running reports

My partner Alison's Up GTi, (five and a half years old, owned from new and never bent or abused) has started to leak rain water in around the door seal onto the drivers seat. Bit disappointing for a VW. Anyone else had a similar problem?
