Re: For the FTAO of Sim racing folk

I’ve been sim racing for a few years now and typically race a couple of times a week online. It can be very addictive and also very frustrating. It’s a hobby which either draws you in or you drift off quite quickly. Lots of people start with a G29 type thing and end up upgrading. I bought an alumini...

Re: Your fleet running reports

Bike rack, and no, it doesn’t touch the glass roof at all. 5ec01b4de2099f3d102a22a9.jpeg That’s a throwback to our Smart which we used to carry bikes round the country. https://flic.kr/p/4Msgbd The rack bolts directly into the steel Tridion shell which also holds the panoramic roof. It’s not imposs...

Re: L322 or Disco 3??

We live rurally and wife does 20-25 miles a day for school run and work. Probably 80% is NSL roads for cruising. I'm curious about which engine option is the best. Head says 4.4 tdv8 but it looks significantly more thirsty than the 3.8 V8 or 3.0 i6. I won't be towing just be family and camping stuf...

Re: L322 or Disco 3??

We have an L322 - ask away if you've got questons? We chose it over a Disco (Cayenne, Tourag, e500 estate and Legacy) for a few reasons - the ride seemed much smoother on air suspension in the Range Rover. The interior is a better place for long journeys and it was significantly quieter. A D3/4 will...

Re: Your fleet running reports

One interesting thing though - he does vehicle transport and does a lot of pick-ups for WBAC, delivering them to Blackbushe. He says he sees a lot of Range Rovers. Read into that what you will.... A lot of people seem to part-exchange them when they know they have a big bill coming. We looked at a ...

Re: Your fleet running reports

So - as it turns out - I'll likely be in a position to clear off the residual loan on the 911 a year in advance. On that basis another auto-mo-bile may be on the cards in the near future... I'd only be interested in upgrading the 911 for a manual 991.1 GTS and basically they're as rare as hens teet...

Re: Green Laning report

Anyone can go. There was also a Ford Ranger, Jeep Rubicon and a Mitsubishi Pajero. Disco’s seemed the vehicle of choice.

Edited for 4x4 model pedantry.

Let's try again... It cost £50 of the morning which seemed very good. Re: Green Laning report

Here seems the most appropriate place for this... Some of you might remember we picked up a 3.6 TDV8 L322 about 10 months ago. In an effort to try and justify it, we signed on to a Forestry Commission 4x4 trip round Cannock Chase. We were expecting a tour of the fire roads and a lectrure from the ra...

Yeah, it didn't help with the nerves. When it's working there's nothing quite like it though.

Motorhome - having solar panels fitted. Otherwise not going anywhere. Mini Clubman S - We came home one night and it had been possessed. Lights turning on and off. Windows opening and closing randomly. Nothing seemed to stop it. 2 Days of diagnostics and it turned out that when the windscreen was ch...

Re: Abingdon & Bedford December

Well to be fair it was very very wet for the first half. I’ve never done a properly wet track day before so it was quite an eye opener. The Elise is much more snappy in the wet. I started to build some confidence and then promptly spun it, unsurprisingly. Nice place to learn and play though. The aft...

Re: Disco ?

We've got a similar issue: looking for a Bongo replacement to take 4 people, bikes and luggage around the country. Our initial thought was RS6 avant or E55 estate but neither of which can fit a tow bar apparently due to type approval  X5s, Cayennes, Touaregs and XC90s were next port of call bu...

Re: Your fleet running reports

Elise sold. Purchased for £10,500 in August 2016, sold for £12,800 in July 2018. Completed 2000 miles. Great car. Always loved the Elise and will certainly have another. This one was cosmetically quite poor, however the 135 engine is the best K-series I've ever driven. Dan did an outstanding job on...

Re: Forum Roll Call BUT pictures rather than words

I think I did post a bit on the last one but mainly followed along. Found OV9 thanks to the mild twitter-storm over closing the last place. Ford Freda is indeed a variant of the Mazda Bongo Friendee. Who thought a mid engined, 8 seater camper van was a great idea? Much better to travel in than a cla...

Re: Best car you have ever driven?

Probably an Evora GT430 which I borrowed recently. Taken aback by the pace and stability of it. I shouldn't have been looking back at the spec sheet (and price!) but it's completely different to the first Evora and the Elise derivatives.
