Re: FTAO of Coffee Whankhorz

Save your cash and buy it pre-ground. If you're buying decent coffee in the first place it's going to be ground as it's packed for sending to you.

I resisted buying a grinder for ages with this logic but found I couldn't change beans because the fine grind of one place wasn't the same as ...

Getting 2.7t of Range Rover plus bike racks off the ground with air suspension trying its best to find tarmac again is quite hard. Key is to have a big bottle jack that fits the jacking point and don’t go anywhere need the scissor ...

What are you doing to need to use the spare a lot ??

I have been asking myself that given they are £250 per corner… In the last two years; a tps valve failed while checking tyre pressures on the way to Scotland. We got a puncture on the gravel of Raiders Road in Scotland. We picked up a nail ...

Re: Your fleet running reports

Someone on the Disco4 forum mentioned that the interior of the D4 is bigger than the new Defender 110 so I checked on carsized:

https://www.carsized.com/en/cars/compare/land-rover-defender-2019-offroader-110-vs-land-rover-discovery-2014-suv/rear/

Despite being 19cm longer, 9cm wider, and 8cm ...

Re: Your fleet running reports

Looks fun - I really want to do a trackday at Anglesey but have never managed to make it happen. It's quite a pain to get to and I shoul dreally build it into a bigger holiday/trip.

No driving games have Anglesey, so I was left to watch some YouTube vids...

Too late now, but for the future ...

Re: For the FTAO of Sim racing folk

I’ve been sim racing for a few years now and typically race a couple of times a week online. It can be very addictive and also very frustrating.

It’s a hobby which either draws you in or you drift off quite quickly. Lots of people start with a G29 type thing and end up upgrading.

I bought an ...

Bike rack, and no, it doesn’t touch the glass roof at all.

That’s a throwback to our Smart which we used to carry bikes round the country.

The rack bolts directly into the steel Tridion shell which also holds the panoramic roof. It’s not ...

Re: L322 or Disco 3??

We live rurally and wife does 20-25 miles a day for school run and work. Probably 80% is NSL roads for cruising.

I'm curious about which engine option is the best. Head says 4.4 tdv8 but it looks significantly more thirsty than the 3.8 V8 or 3.0 i6. I won't be towing just be family and camping ...

Re: L322 or Disco 3??

We have an L322 - ask away if you've got questons?

We chose it over a Disco (Cayenne, Tourag, e500 estate and Legacy) for a few reasons - the ride seemed much smoother on air suspension in the Range Rover. The interior is a better place for long journeys and it was significantly quieter. A D3/4 ...

One interesting thing though - he does vehicle transport and does a lot of pick-ups for WBAC, delivering them to Blackbushe. He says he sees a lot of Range Rovers. Read into that what you will....

So - as it turns out - I'll likely be in a position to clear off the residual loan on the 911 a year in advance. On that basis another auto-mo-bile may be on the cards in the near future...

I'd only be interested in upgrading the 911 for a manual 991.1 GTS and basically they're as rare as hens ...

Anyone can go. There was also a Ford Ranger, Jeep Rubicon and a Mitsubishi Pajero. Disco’s seemed the vehicle of choice.

Edited for 4x4 model pedantry.

Some of you might remember we picked up a 3.6 TDV8 L322 about 10 months ago. In an effort to try and justify it, we signed on to a Forestry Commission 4x4 trip round Cannock Chase. We were expecting a tour of the fire roads and a lectrure from the ...

Well to be fair it was very very wet for the first half. I’ve never done a properly wet track day before so it was quite an eye opener. The Elise is much more snappy in the wet. I started to build some confidence and then promptly spun it, unsurprisingly. Nice place to learn and play though.

We've got a similar issue: looking for a Bongo replacement to take 4 people, bikes and luggage around the country.

Our initial thought was RS6 avant or E55 estate but neither of which can fit a tow bar apparently due to type approval  X5s, Cayennes, Touaregs and XC90s were next port of call ...
