Re: Suck squeeze bang squeeze bang blow

It’s a really interesting way of doing things, I wonder what they will sound like out in the open. Lots of ic engine development yet, we are over 95% efficient on our greenhouse engines which is better than anything electric could ever be. It’s a bit of a niche way of using engines though. I always ...

Re: Jobbo interior

I remember the brakes as he would demonstrate them on the way to the rainbow car wash. The suds used to make rainbows all over the car as you were inside 😎. The fold down section of his used to sit flat on the seat and I also remember it having a sunroof you could take out entirely. My Dad had the s...

Re: Jobbo interior

My Grandpa had a brown Austin Princess with that colour interior. I think the ribs used to go the opposite way on the side panels. Happy memories sitting on the fold down arm rest in the back of that 😎 Brilliant interior, absolutely love it. All the seperate parts of the seat make it work, if it was...

Not only can I not afford a new car, I’m lucky in that I couldn’t afford to run one even if I could buy it 😂

Re: Kids of today….

I’ve done health and safety work for almost every company I’ve worked for and handling hazardous materials is like the most basic risk after trips and falls. Fuck me for not wanting employees to get hurt though  I’d imagine that the health and safety required for the materials and manufacturin...

Re: Kids of today….

I am not anti health and safety, they’ve made great strides in hearing protection and working hours we have to work etc but they go too far on a lot of aspects. We had to put shields on a flywheel guard, the shields covered the step, 20 cm above the step was a ceiling, it was incase we climbed up it...

Re: Kids of today….

In that case you can’t do any mechanical job ever, there is risk in every part of the job but it can never be removed.

We have COSHH, best work practices, control of what chemicals can and can’t be onboard etc

Re: Kids of today….

What job precludes the use of nitrile gloves? Wiping oil on a bearing before installation, it’s very difficult to see dirt on large bearings and the last check before installing is feeling it on your hand/ fingers. We can see when someone has installed bearings with gloves in Bangladesh as they ins...

Re: Kids of today….

Because Dave said they don’t provide gloves. Oil is a carcinogen. No I didn’t, I said you can’t use gloves for some jobs. Dave! Fair enough, I took your comment to mean you don’t use gloves at all. I use gloves for chainblocks, when I’m really heaving on something and when I’m cleaning carbon, as n...

Re: Kids of today….

You guys think getting some engine oil on your hands gives you cancer ? WD-40 being sprayed in the air is a thousand times worse but you can go buy that in Halfords. Now in the hell that is North Sea oil and gas, where H+S means you are more likely to be hurt working in Boots lets engine oil touch y...

Re: Kids of today….

It's easy to think all kids are like this but it's certainly not the case. One example - my lad loves watching the Mr Hewes channel and it's great to see that so many of the lads on there are in their early 20s and already have an almost intuitive understanding of whatever military/agricultural veh...

Re: Kids of today….

No barrier cream, it doesn’t soak in so I can’t hold anything. Just wash properly and that’s it. They changed wiring diagrams about 20 years ago and your daughter is right it’s surprising how some people can’t follow them. I prefer the old style but the new line diagram ones are very logical. Dave!
