Re: Your fleet running reports
The efficiency of a modern auto/DSG gearbox makes a huge improvement. Even the fluid activated 4 speed in my 500e feels slow compared to the more modern 7 speed in the ML flat out. But, efficiency was never as fun and the seamless changes and extra gears of modern stuff removes a big layer of fun. F...
Re: #Awkward
Between Egypt and Bangladesh I’d take Egypt every time. The best was a policeman who tried to stop a bus driver (9/10 bus drivers hold no licence) by hang8ng onto the front of the bus, who drove at great speed only to crash into another bullying bus, killing the policeman and about 60 people in the ...

100% agree on the unions. Coming home from school to my Dad at home as the union decided on another walkout for pathetic self serving reasons. It’s amazing what some businesses bring to a town, Peterborough was built around Perkins Engines, it used to have 10,000 employees at its peak, it’s around 1...

Re: FTAO off of Insomniacs
Getting rid of the duvet for most of the year was one of the best things we did for our rubbish sleeping patterns. Most of the time we just have a collection of blankets and we take the ones we want. Saves her overheating through the night and me getting woken up when she kicks the duvet off the be...

Re: FTAO off of Insomniacs
texture of feathers I also have flashbacks of feather stalks poking out like on the duvets I had as a child Go to John Lewis, they have loads of tester duvets and you cannot feel a single feather, it’s just a really nice fluffy duvet. Ours we use in winter and summer and it’s around 9 or something....

I can now meet my clients for haircuts far quicker than before 8-) The caliper had a crack by the seal, but ECP still took them back. It has new ARB bushes, new top mounts and bearings, Koni sport adjustable struts and H+R 25mm lowering springs front and back. New upper and lower rear spring cups an...

Re: FTAO off of Insomniacs
Have any of you freaks tried a weighted blanket to help you sleep? Praise for them seems to be universal, but I just thought a review from a real person (or as close as it gets on here, anyway) would be good. I normally don’t have trouble getting to sleep, but wake 90% of the time in the night for ...

Re: Porsche 911 Courier
It was for classic F1 cars. Either they take every part they have to each race or they have to grab some bits and pieces every so often. I imagine people who pay to have a team look after an old F1 car are quite demanding. I think the reasons are that at high speed he gets very good fuel mileage and...

Re: Your fleet running reports
I’m giving up on cars...... The Defender needs an MOT so I got some welding done that it needed and went to my local MOT emporium. They were fully booked so I found somewhere else and booked it in. Sadly they don’t do a class 7 MOT (it’s officially 3050kg plated weight) so that was a bust after tur...

Re: Your fleet running reports
That will do for today. Hopefully the paint will be dry enough to start putting it back together tomorrow. As always there's lots of other bits I would love to have done, like the disk backplates, driveshaft boots, caliper rebuild etc, but where do you stop? It was only supposed to be a set of bush...

Re: The House Projects Thread
The garage is pretty much done apart from.......... electrics :( I have an extension from the house but no lighting, our fuse board in the extension needs upgrading to meet my power needs and that means upgrading our main fuse board. So that turns a 1k project into a 2.5k one. Luckily head torches a...
Re: Vegans
FWIW I very much enjoy my diet of 90% vegan food at home. My wife is a good cook, I cook a few good bits such as curries, we both really enjoy food and the meals we prepare. I'm happy that my vegan wife never forces any extreme views on me or anyone whilst still being able to express an opinion. I'...
Re: Vegans
I’m a big meat eater but also a fluffy animal lover. All our meat is from a local farm shop/ butchers but 90% of everything else comes from Tesco’s. I eat a lot of cheese, Dairy, meat and probably around 3000 calories a day on average at least. Vegetarian food is nice every so often as it can be qui...

I've clearly been DIW. Apart from the one which carried the eldest home from the maternity ward, I've just left it to the mrs who has procured random seats in used condition from the nearest amenable fellow breeders. You had a Vauxhall zafira didn’t you? I bet he wore aviators too and brightly colo...

That moment you realise he can’t physically wipe his arse as his arms are too short  He lives in Japan - the toilets out there do that for you! Ah, is that why he emigrated from Hawaii? Nobody else watched the sumo wrestling avidly on Ch4 back in the late 80s? We had a league at St Johns...

Re: Your fleet running reports
Child seats are a minefield. Ours were forward facing at about 15 months, Connor was car sick a lot and Maxwell was just a bundle of nervous fidgeting. Forward facing stopped the vomiting and calmed down Maxwell. It’s hard to find a forward facing seat with harnesses which isn’t the size of a planet...
