Not fine dining in any way but the best restaurant I visited in Edinburgh was Makars Mash-Bar on Bank Street, I couldn't believe how well those simple dishes were cooked. I also visited The Grain Store on Victoria Street, which is highly rated but I actually preferred the Mash-Bar to it.

Don't know why they felt a facelift was needed for the R230:

Merc could've pitted, chose not to. RB did and had all bases covered, paid off. Admittedly it is always much easier for the one chasing to take the gamble though.
