Re: The Motorbikerist Thread
She paid up directly to me today, £2,105 - the full cost of repairs and a new helmet. It's a PITA obvs but can't really argue with how it's been resolved in 1 working day, and crucially no insurance company has profited from this shituation.

Re: Convert a car seat to an office chair?
I've had this 3 years, honestly everything else is shite in comparison. I think it's what they were putting in Bombardier CRJ regional jets.

Re: The Motorbikerist Thread
Had a brief text exchange with the lady, she'd prefer to deal with outside of insurance if poss, which is fine with me. I did tell her it was likely to be around £2k and she just said "ok thanks" so promising for path of least hassle if she'll just cough up for the lot.

Cheers Mik, have seen there are a few around but
1. Mostly pinhead sizes
2. They'll all be at least a year into the expiry date already

Re: Convert a car seat to an office chair?
I have an office chair made out of an aircraft seat, which is the most comfy chair I've ever owned. However it was done by the seat manufacturer (MIRUS) not a home made jobby.

Re: The Motorbikerist Thread
This is the worst of it: That's rather annoying. And a real :?: over the helmet. It's probably absolutely fine internally, but I guess you'd always be paranoid it might not be..... :? Well quite, and I had a perfectly unmarked helmet before, and now i have one full of chips and a small crack on the...

Jaguar XJ8 3.2 Tin-Worm Edition So the Jag has sat on my drive without moving for 13 months as I've had the Mondeo to knock about in, and I knew it needed some mechanical work to make it MOTable again. I thought it was about time, with the nice weather approaching, to waft once more. So I booked it...

Re: The Motorbikerist Thread
So on Saturday I undertook an IAM Advanced Riding Test, just for lols so I could complete the set. I recently retired as Chair of the local RoSPA group so now my loyalties no longer need to be in one place I thought I'd whore myself around the other local riding groups. I got a FIRST, which was nice...

I'm riding up to the Lakes on Tuesday and this is the interesting part of the route I've planned after Sheffield.
Any of you northern types about on Tuesday want to join in?

Re: Hive mind: opinion on this polo
On reflection the conclusion newer/higher mileage/cheaper is more betterer than that one. Neither like MINIs so they're out.

Re: Hive mind: opinion on this polo
To be fair to the lad he's not the type to go mental with/in it, but it's a good point all the same. Quick look at AT reveals a lot of the < 50k newer ones are CAT cars which is a bit off putting.

Girlfriend’s son is 17 soon. This looks like a bit of a unicorn, one owner low mileage and good mot history.
I know nothing about these, or that 1.2 engine. What do we reckon?

Re: Break/Tail light bulbs
Further confusion. Owners manual just says P21/5 - the 380 bit is what all the configurators tell you. It's not a P21/5 at all it's a P21/4 566 type. FFS ford!

Break/Tail light bulbs
Whodathunk replacing a brake light bulb on a Mk4 Mondeo would be such a pain in the arse?! It's a combined break/tail light. P21/5 380 according to the manual. But wait, these fuckers come with various end cap designs thusly: https://www.classicbulbs.co.uk/faq/data-books-free-bayonet-caps-what-do-th...

On a similar subject, my lad will be 16 in December this year and I'm intending to buy him a scooter/ped to knock about on. I've no clue what the insurance scene is like for that end of the market - anyone done similar?

probs ought to leave this one be fella, from a basic decency pov. You're quite correct. How long should this be stuck to the top of the main page? If it offends you that much, and lord knows why it would, just browse the forum using this link and it isn't sticky: https://forums.ov9.co.uk/search.php...
