Re: Microsoft Flight Simulator
I saw a review yesterday which mentioned the Marketplace content. Seems a bit early for content to be released as the SDK would only have been final upon actual release I’d have thought? Don’t relish the idea of buying content developed against a closed beta.

Re: Microsoft Flight Simulator
Had a quick go Wednesday evening before my leg started complaining and even though cannot use my pedals at the moment (auto rudder control very handy) I think it’s impressive. Took off from Brize then flew over our village with my daughter watching and she was able to pick out our house. It’s relati...

Re: Harry’s Garage
I love it. That’s the one he burbled through the village in and really topped off my cider on a sunny Sunday afternoon. Sounds gorgeous.

Re: Microsoft Flight Simulator
Problem I’m now seeing is that in order to upgrade the CPU (although I don’t think I need to do it for FS2020) I’m going to need to change the mobo as the socket is different for the newer i9s IIRC.

Re: Microsoft Flight Simulator
Yeah from what I understand, FS2020 moves more to the GPU compared to XPlane which even under Vulcan, still leaves a lot on the CPU and doesn’t share it equally across the cores (it’s better now, but far from perfect). So anybody with an i7 and a 1080 is going to be ok based on reviews I’ve seen, un...

Re: Microsoft Flight Simulator
Got a Logitech yoke, pedals and throttle system which works quite well, so will be using that.
As mentioned you can refund through Steam, but don’t hang around. They’ll review your request and if it’s more than a few hours of gameplay, they’ll say no.

Re: Microsoft Flight Simulator
Lots of content appearing now for this, launch on August 18th. Top version ain’t cheap but tbf it does look outstanding. And because it streams a lot of the scenery, seems you don’t need a mega GPU to have a decent experience, either. Only Reverb VR support at launch though, Rift a little later. Def...

At last something he’s involved with actually seeing the light of day. Looks a bit nondescript but will clearly be epic. See Harry M has already loaded up his reveal.

Re: Modern Classics magazine
Ordered the final issue today from their website. Had actually gone online to buy a back issue, which was then only available in digital, and different to some on here, I strongly prefer print. For me, tablet-based magazines will never substitute for printed material.

Re: Fixing Aston Martin
Not read the article but I did read elsewhere quite recently that Aston went from a scalable architecture with VH to something different with Vantage, DB11 etc. In other words, parts and underlying architecture is not shared quite the way it once was. This I find utterly bizarre as surely in this mo...

So has anybody seen the new Lambo set or what? My normal Lego-infused YouTube feeds seem short of Sian content.

Re: Masks in shops
Other than my bloody glasses steaming up in shops with anything other than freeze-your-tits-off-aircon this doesn't really impact me. Just don the mask, and enter shop.

Yeah surprised at this too, although if it's cost-driven then perhaps normal reasoning goes out of the window. See plenty of Outlanders in Witney's car parks of a weekend, very popular round 'ere.

Re: Harry’s Garage
Part of the reason why I've gone for the Mini JCW and 'something for the weekend' to accompany it, and not something like a nearly new M5 or in that vein is because I'm starting to think it's all a bit pointless. I know that previous reasons for selling my M5s of years gone by are the stuff of mirth...

Re: I fought the law and the law...
I was supposed to convert my licence to a Belgian one when we lived in Brussels years ago, but never did. Then got pulled over at some point because we were still on UK plates and they tried to push a fine, but it never happened, filed under the "too much paperwork" heading IIRC.

Re: Harry’s Garage
Based on the fact the Mr M has just driven past his and our local in a DBX, silver, LHD, I’d say a DBX review is incoming. Looking forward to that one. Sounded bloody gorgeous and looks just as good. Which local is that Mark? A few years ago Jobbo and I met up in his 'local' too, but can't remember...
