Re: Car Battery question

I didn't explain myself very well in that post.. it sounded like I was asking if I should leave the battery terminal covers on

I was actually unsure about the vent tube caps

Re: EV Thread

Public charging cost needs to reduce significantly as well.

For example, if you charge out and about @80pkw, that about 20p per mile. That's the equivalent costs to a car that does 30mpg.
Add in the longer fill times, and you can understand why people who don't/can't home charge aren't bothered ...

Re: EV Thread

You're not wrong, but perhaps coming at things from the wrong perspective with regards to range. As ever it boils down to the use case: how often do you need to do 400-450 miles without a break(s)? Yes, it will be a longer break than if filling up with dino-juice, but doesn't (infrastructure and ...

Re: EV Thread

I'm pretty out of touch with the world of EV's, but was just glancing through Autotrader to see what the situation is now re. Price and range. Few observations; please tell me if I'm wrong:

Firstly, our 2016 Mini Cooper 1.5 Turbot will do about 400 - 450 miles to a tank.

But to get the same same ...

Re: Your fleet running reports

Thanks all!

Mik, that incident when you were younger sounds pretty bloody scary! At least it didn't do any damage. Cheers for the video link, I'll give it a watch :D

Re: Your fleet running reports

Mustang has developed a bit of an issue.

Once it's been driven and warmed up, it's sometimes not getting in gear from neutral. Not any gear. I've had to turn the engine off, get it in 1st, and then pull away.

The drivetrain is also very sloppy.. I hoped to try and fix that next year with a one ...

That does sound better than a QD, to be fair. Looks like you're getting a decent coating with that.

Re: Your fleet running reports

I'm dubious about ceramic sprays. I always thought they were just quick detailers?

Might be worth giving Optimum No Rinse a try. I've saved a fortune on car washing stuff as I have this as a wash and quick detailer (and glass cleaner, clay lube, interior cleaner..) Price per clean is pennies.

It's ...

Re: Your fleet running reports

Alfa is looking great 8-)

I've long suspected the Mustang has been down on power. I've never timed it, but the arse Dyno says there's an issue and it just doesn't feel as quick as it should. It also often feels a bit strained at the top end. I'm thinking about what it could be.

Well, one of the ...

Re: The House Projects Thread

That sounds like the best you can do tbf. It can be tricky when you back on to people's gardens.

My last place was very difficult for privacy. Mid terrace Victorian, with long gardens but no width (12ft). If you were outside on the patio, you could hear every single word that your neighbours were ...

Re: The House Projects Thread

Cheers Merv. That was precisely the objective here - create a bigger visual garden by eliminating the barrier and installing something of a simple boundary line instead. We specifically wanted a picket and not a lower height solid fence to be able to see as much of the view as possible. Couple that ...

Re: The House Projects Thread

Re. The privacy, that was my only concern.. but fortunately there's very little activity in the churchyard as people tend to walk around it instead of walk through. And if they do walk through they almost always stick to the gravel path next to the church. They sometimes have events on the ...

I think some of these A1 sex shops are in old Little Chef restaurants?

They're a bit run down looking, but whenever I'm at the jet wash there's always people going in

Re: The House Projects Thread

Thanks everyone!

It was a great little project with huge bang for your buck. Only cost £300 or so but has completely changed the outlook. Had lots of positive comments on it.

It took the whole day in the end, but we had to contend with quite a lot of old concrete left in the ground from previous ...

Re: The House Projects Thread

Cheers Mito. Wisteria is a good shout. There is a clematis on the trellis but that's as far as we've gone at the mo.

The 6ft panels also need a paint now to smarten them up a bit. Thinking of buying one of those paint guns as there's a lot to do and I reckon it'll take ages with a brush.

Re: The House Projects Thread

It's been a year since we moved into our thatched cottage and we love it. There is a list of things that need doing, but they aren't DIY'able (well, not for me, anyway). The render will need to come off and be replaced as it's concrete, not lime, and has delaminated in spots. Fortunately, there is ...

Re: Your fleet running reports

*breath deep and do not scream*
This evening I was greeted by this
https://i.ibb.co/1fY2Ftjg/IMG-6028.jpg

After a deep breath and some screaming I started searching for the source of the Nile.

The water was coming in from the bonnet release catch and as I was parked on a slope it pooled ...

Mustang:

I was at Modurstang all day yesterday while they fitted new control arms, track rod ends, tie rods, and a Pedders Sportsryder lowering kit. WOW, what a difference! I knew it would be a hell of an improvement but the drive home, even in the pissing rain, was mega. Completely ...
