Re: The Watches Thread

I don’t know if anyone uses chrono24 but I’ve used them twice in the last few months. Got a sevenfriday and a Hamilton off there. Not bad service and experience tbh

Car for a new driver

I’m sure over the years this has been covered many, many times before. Son is 17 in July and I’ve been looking at cars to get. Looking at aygo, c1, 107. Was going to look an an aygo today but it sold yesterday morning. Any other suggestions?
Price around £2-£2.5k

dinny_g wrote: Tue Mar 26, 2024 1:38 pm Yeah definately NOT road worthy - they were built for pure racing.

Is that maybe the difference between Auto-Testing and a Auto-Solo ? the need for the vehicle to be road legal ?
Autosolos are forward only, autotests go backwards as well

https://corkmotorclub.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/AutotestFeature.jpg Mini Specials presumably... I’ve seen these on the YouTube and although very impressive with their straight cut gears etc, the day I went to was a streetcar motorsport event. So current mot, road worthiness, road legal and all...

Re: So I done a thing the weekend (very slow race content)

Looks fun. Are there any cars that are significantly better than others (beyond small/light) ? FWD/RWD ? Erm yes and no, eg mark 1 mx5 seem to handle better than mine as they’re lighter and have less power and less power is not really needed I came to the conclusion it’s how you drive and not what ...

Re: So I done a thing the weekend (very slow race content)

Yay ! Surprisingly difficult isn’t it ? Getting soundly thrashed by some old bloke in a shitty micra who’s been doing stuff like this for decades really opens your eyes to how bad your own driving is. I got beat by a woman (to be honest, she was very good and in an mx5 mark 1 which to be lighter an...

So I done a thing the weekend (very slow race content)

Have done a few track days over the past three or four years but entered an autosolo. Never done anything like this before, came 16th out of 41. Had two mistakes, and if I hadn’t of had the mistakes I would have come 9th. It was only driving around cones in first gear but am definitely going to do i...

Re: Biker folk

What was the book that showed lots of positioning, riding tips etc for new riders and riders who wanted to improve ? I’m sure there was quite a well known one but I can’t remember it at all. Dave! A twist of the wrist? That's the one I was thinking of tbh. If you want to learn on the job, check if ...

@Jay-me it's always great when people achieve something they've been wanting for a while - so congrats on that Seeing your Sinn reminded me that I saw a Rolex Submariner "hulk" in black PVD the other day I'm not a fan, but I can see how it could be appealing to others It was used, and £19...

Re: The Watches Thread

I have mentioned a few times how much I liked the Blaken PVD Rolex I’ve seen - it was a Milgauss and looked stunning. I’d still like one. I have a perception (based on not much at all) that the PVD coating could chip and damage (revealing the steel below) - is that a thing? Leading edge seems to ma...

Re: No F1 thread?

The way Bearman drove today, Lance (daddy bought me a race team) Stroll should quit.
No rookies this year but if Mag, Hulk, Stroll, Bottas and anyone else could be replaced by the gp2 youngsters could possibly make f1 more exciting.
