Re: FAO BMW i3-istas

We did use the 3 pin charger for the first year which was fine as charged overnight.

A 7kw home charger will add about 33 miles range per hour. So this was useful when we used it more often and needed a top up in the afternoon

Re: FAO BMW i3-istas

Thanks all - and apologies to Holley for forgetting you had one too ! (but worth checking you get a proper dual charger with it as not all i3's have them except for one of those home plug in ones) ? Is the dual charger part of the car ? I know nothing about this stuff (yet). There's already a hefty...

Re: FAO BMW i3-istas

Wife has had hers from new since 2018. It's a 33kw rex that does about 80 miles electric only in cold winter and about 125 miles in the summer. Extender adds about 50-80 miles to this although she rarely needs it (probably only refill the tank twice a year). It's been pretty much faultless and curre...

Re: Choose

F1 was my dream car growing up so would be hard to refuse.

But 30 years is a long time and I'd imagine as a pure driving experience the T50 is just better in every way. So I would pick the T50; regret it and wish I'd picked the F1.

My favourite combination is working from the office (so no cats or dog to annoy me) but without any staff (so no people to continually ask me questions all day long). Alas this doesn't happen often enough

Re: Your fleet running reports

Fuck all that, any car like that instantly puts me off. I work with electronic products having random shit fits all day long so don’t trust much more than a Casio watch. There are lots of incredibly intelligent software people who tell me “you’re wrong it can’t do that” A week later telling me “oh ...

Re: Your fleet running reports

Left the Tesla in the train station car park whilst we went to London for the day. Got back at about 6pm only for the Tesla to decide to do a software update. We were keen to just get going as all hungry and just want to go home. But apparently you can't cancel an update, so had to sit there for 25...

Re: Your fleet running reports

My Audi did a full automatic emergency stop while I was away in Anglesey at the weekend. It was at a traffic light controlled crossroads where there was a car coming towards me slowly, indicating to turn, so I started to edge forward as I was turning right across him. My car must have thought there...

Looks like it's receding, to match its owners?

Joking aside I think it looks good.

Re: Where would you live?

Aspley Guise, Aspley Heath and Woburn are suitably posh and very lovely. Can get some very nice properties for between 1.25m-2m. Not quite all criteria hit, but something like this... https://www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/138872882#/?channel=RES_BUY or this https://www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/14...

Re: EV Thread

Looking at replacing Mrs Holley's i3 as almost had it 6 years and done 83k. Battery warranty runs out at 100k miles and is a mild concern. Although she loves it, this long period of windy days has reminded her how rubbish it is in crosswinds on dual carriageways. Looked at all the potentials (has t...

Re: Which hoover?

Nice review Mik. What made you decide to pick this one out of the other brands out of interest? https://www.independent.co.uk/extras/indybest/house-garden/vacuum-cleaners/best-robot-vacuum-cleaners-b2349451.html We'd kinda narrowed it down to the Roomba J7+ or this one. The former seems to have str...

Following the impressively middle-aged excitement expressed by a relative recently around the convenience offered by their new robot hoover, we picked up a TP-link (Tapo) RV30 Plus a week or so back. https://mybroadband.co.za/news/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/TP-Link-Headline-Image.jpeg We wanted one...

Re: Insurance (general moaning thread)

Biggest issue for insurers has been the cost to replace fences, roof tiles, kitchens, bathrooms etc. Prices for materials haven't really come down since Covid and so the cost of a claim is much higher for an insurer. I was told by Uinsure that they've increased rates by 25% this year, Paymentshield ...

Both Tesla (now 2 years old and 36k miles) and I3 (5 years old and 80k miles) have always been charged to 100% but mostly from home (I3 always from home). No noticeable loss in battery life in either. Have been averaging about 15k miles per year each and electric costs have been about £100 per month...

Re: CCTV Recorder

I can't see why you cannot just replace with a plug and play new PVR box. What output do the cameras have - are they IP connections? My other question would be what resolution are the cameras? If they are less than 4k then it may be worth swapping them but again you should be able to replace the ca...
