Re: Open University

I started a degree course probably 10 years ago with the OU. I did the initial access course and then started a Psychology with counselling degree. I lasted approx 3 years ( just under half way) before it all became to much. My grades were great ( couple below distinction for 1st year) but my MH and...

Re: The Music Thread

Had only heard 1 of their songs until a few months ago. Whilst I was out of work I caught up on a lot of festival coverage on the TV and happened to watch Nothing but thieves at Reading. Now seem to be listening to them a lot! Not sure where they fit genre wise as I listen to so many different style...

Re: Part time working hours

Ta for the replies & advice. Despite our moaning about his treatment ( and his lack of sleep) he ventured off to work. When he arrived he was told by the manager that there was no work for him and he shouldn't even be in ! Luckily he's only got a couple of shifts to go before he finishes on Frid...

Re: Part time working hours

It does sound a mixed up set of rules with various get out clauses for employers. He used to work Mon, Thurs, and Friday 5.15pm till midnight. Its only a summer job while he's home from uni so it fitted in fine ( even though we have to taxi him the 20mins each way evey day!) . On a Thursday he was a...

Part time working hours

Eldest son works for a local supermarket. They're working 5 1/4 hours until midnight on Sunday, can they be told tonight they are back in work the following day ( Monday) at 9am until 3pm ? I'm not sure on the legality of it as it's P/T hours.

Re: Custom PC option

Not tempted to DIY it if he knows what he wants already? Ok, the savings aren’t huge but gives you more freedom with cosmetics and upgrade paths. We decided against that option pretty quickly. If I had more time then I'd like to be a custom PC but also with it being for Uni work I didn't want to ri...

Custom PC option

Our youngest is off to Uni soon to study Computer Science. He's going to need a new PC for his studies / gaming and has been looking at his options. PC Specialist seem to be the place he wants to get one from but when I've spoken to them theres no discounts / promo codes available. Considering he'll...

'm not sure which is more annoying, having to click on a D.M link or the clueless wifes commentary in the clip!

Re: Wireless key security?

We had 2 defender pouches and a Faraday box ( from the AA or RAC I thnk?) ready and waiting for when we got the Cupra. It's now just become a habit to lock the car, keys in pouch and then pop the pouch etc into the Faraday box. Didn't know the pouches will degrade over time so will invest in new one...

Re: Your fleet running reports

Can anyone recommend an online number plate place? Plates on the Galaxy are looking distinctly tired and the rear one is curving out. Similar to this, does anybody have any experience / links to replace old dealer branded plates ? Want to tidy up an old Volvo as the plates are milky and cracked but...

Re: Your fleet running reports

Lookers Stockport? Fucking shite IME. That's who I got the 197 with and they were terrible. When the wife gave up waiting for the Volvo clowns down the road to get her into her pre-booked test drive of an S80 T8, we moohced up the road to Lookers for a look at the Skodas. After liking the Superb an...

Re: Your fleet running reports

So back in February we enquired about getting rid of our Polo Gti (DSG) that we'd had for 3.5years. Far too small for a weekly shop let alone the removal team duties with kids being at Uni! It was fun, nippy and obv being a VW fanboy it ticked that box. However far too small for us and the ride was ...

Re: Car Plans. What's Next?

Just to add.

Total depreciation for the Polo was £300 over 3.5 years !! Paid £14500 for it from the dealer and sold it for £14200 with an extra 25k miles on it.

Unbelievable :o

Re: Car Plans. What's Next?

Well the Polo was sold. It was collected on Friday and was a very stress free process. Dealer had arranged collection and then Thursday we had a call just to confirm collection time and what would happen. Collection bloke turned up on time after getting the bus from Stockport. He ended up taking ton...

Anybody used Motorway before ?Just in the middle of selling our Polo with them and I'm amazed how easy its been. I'll rewind a week or two.. So, we have a polo gti Dsg and it was due to be replaced in the summer. After many months of struggling to fit the weekly shop in the boot and trying to get mo...

Re: Celebrity locals.

We spotted Jarvis Cocker In Morrisons once. Lives nearby apparently and was very tall, wore a sheepskin jacket and drove a P38 Range Rover.
Nobody else of note.
Unfortunately there's Edwina Curry in the next village and I saw her daughter on Sunday when walking the dog.
