One thing's for sure, we need change and hopefully this will be another nail in the coffin of the cult-like following the SNP seems to have.
As for the alternatives....

Re: Test drive report
That colour is properly stunning. It still reminds me of the 458 which is no bad thing. Really interesting to hear your impressions, so looks like we have a winner then?
That's a lot of car for the money and sounds like a pretty good buy with the initial depreciation hit already being taken.

Re: New Car
Nice one! Has he started driving yet? Not 17 yet (3 months) but i've been keeping an eye out for anything good that turned up. Slightly early but it's a good car (hopefully) with super low miles. Definitely a good idea to do it that way and now he's ready to go. Have you got lessons booked yet?

Re: The ebay thread
Have you seen that Chris Harris has started a series on YouTube on his newly purchased M5 touring? It seems a bit of a money pit so far though! Yes, I saw that. His logic seems to be that he buys it for 25K or so, spends 10K on it... If he owns it outright in a couple of years, that's about the sam...

Re: Your fleet running reports
Yeah, I'm sure I can have a word with Mrs Mike to get her to up her game to reach that 100% mark. Data is anonymised which is good and from what I've read isn't sold or shared outwith BMW, but I'd be amazed if there's any way to opt out of this stuff these days given the software in cars and integra...

Yes, forgot to mention that "lady owner" thing, crazy that's still a thing these days, let alone in a listing like this for a V10 estate.

Re: The ebay thread
I've had an alert set for "M5 Touring" for a while but they do seem to be few and far between these days and given their age and things that can go wrong, anything without a massive pile of receipts and all the main things being would have to be very keenly priced. https://www.ebay.co.uk/i...

Re: Smartwatches
I do the same, I just chuck my Apple Watch on the charging stand at night. The Ultra version has a much better battery life and easily do a couple of days, but like the normal one, you can easily hammer the battery depending on how you use it. I switched to a Garmin for my running - its incredible t...

This has just landed in my BMW app. With figures like those I can only imagine there's a big prize of some sort on its way to me. http://nullcopy.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/IMG_4242.jpeg http://nullcopy.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/IMG_4243.jpeg http://nullcopy.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/I...

It just looks another utterly generic jacked-up mini suv (or whatever we're calling them these days) that every manufacturer is making.
And those wheels?!

My daughter is still massively into F1 and has been raving about Drive to Survive which we're watching together and I'm really enjoying it. Almost enough to make me watch an actual race again...

Re: Test drive report
Turbo cars are notorious for needing new turbos aren't they. Trying to remember whether that was 993 or 996 but probably both - issuing being that they're low to the ground and get immersed in water and other shit which weld the wastegates shut IIRC. Just before I bought the M2 I came close to buyi...

Re: Decent Recent TV
Seems to have 'decently mid' reviews by critics, although user reviews on the standard meta review sites are being bombed and counter bombed by the usual "it's woke the women are strong does that make them trans??!??11/" types, and then the suck up fallout fanboys saying it's perfect in e...

Re: Teh Spotted Thread
No HUD option on a Tesla.. elec Mini has a hud and shares platform (or something) with the Ora funky cat, so not really surprising the Chinese style interior. I’m interested to see how AR overtakes HUD with BMW (and Merc?) offering it on their newest cars Yes, am interested to see what the next-gen...

Re: Mountain Biking general thread
Just get yourself an e-bike, sorted!
I've been running in the borders much more this year and have been surprised by just how many e-mtbs I've seen on the more "casual" trails and areas. I wonder what percentage of all sold are now e-bikes.

Re: Teh Spotted Thread
I'm so used to having the HUD on the touring that even in cars with a traditional dash, it seems weird to have to move my head a few mm to check the speedo.
Do Teslas not have a HUD? That makes me today number of years old etc when I learned that. I just assumed they did given the layout.

Re: Teh Spotted Thread
What have Mini done? That circular screen makes me think of Gamesmaster and Patrick Moore for some reason. Like it will just be filled with an image of his head and he'll read out what speed you're doing and directions. I've never really understood any cars which don't at least have the speedo and r...
