Re: My £375k track car

That's fantastic 8-)

I appreciate that's not the point of the car but are you going get some proper timing gear on it?

Some people love that shit down the pub

Re: EU combustion engine ban loosening

All speculation but I'm hoping sense will prevail with range extender or hybrid type tech to qualify.

The new Smart#5&6 PHEV does 177 miles on electric with 430bhp. There must be some middle ground that can be agreed on PHEV mandates to satisfy an EV requirement e.g minimum 150 mile range which ...

Re: Your fleet running reports

Dropped off to Seat for a software update which they said would take 6 weeks

That's either a:

1) *very* large software package
2) seriously slow connection
3) very under-specced processor/RAM in the ECU
Or
4) all of the above.

:D

Very frustrating though. Is he getting a courtesy car ...

Re: Your fleet running reports

My sons Cupra Leon PHEV has been bricked on the drive for 2 days as it discharged its 12v battery whilst AC charging the hybrid system. Can't open the doors, bonnet, boot and so on. Can get in using a key on drivers door but the bonnet release needs the passenger side door open to pull but its ...

Similar situation to above when a car overtook me ...

Re: Your fleet running reports

My wifes old Kia Sportage was Manuel Box with an Electronic Handbrake.

The hold hold worked well and the handbrake would always engage when you turn off the engine although it was sometimes reluctant to manually disengage when you started the car and first move off.

It generally worked well ...

Eric Bana's documentary on running in it called "Love the beast" is worth a watch if anyone's not seen it.

Re: Car insurance

Here's my stupid question for the day... When you purchase car insurance you input the value of your car, and thus you pay to cover that set value, why is it that when the car is written off there's this back and forth to agree the value of the car?

There must be bands of risk/liability. My ...

£15k loss rather than £15k profit?
Loss. Seemed sensible money at circa list price when everyone was asking way over.

I liked the Dacia Hipster concept but Dacia want to build it simpler than the current regs allow. They are lobbying the EU to remove some of the active safety features that have been mandated to make city cars more affordable 8-)

I dont get why small cars have to be 5 door these days though. They are rarely used 4 up and access all round is compromised with short doors and apertures as is visibility with a b post in front of my shoulders. They also look better as 3 doors and must be cheaper to build!

Are modern cars too clever where you couldn't just charge with a Commando socket as that takes 32 amps ?

I know you can get adaptors to physically fit but would a modern EV need to talk to a charger at all ?

You can set the charging kw in the car can't you ?

Dave!
