Re: Dangerous beers...

Pelforth was the beer on tap on site at our usual place in France I remember it was pretty pleasant. Going back this year for the first time since 2019 so will reacquaint myself with it then. Keep a couple of doombars around at most times but I go through phases, ciders (inches and bulmers red berry...

Re: Why are road trips so alluring?

Having watched Harry's recent trip to Spain I can see why you might do it but I personally want to do tours around Germany/Austria/Italy and Spain Portugal and I will take ferries for both (Dunkirk and Bilbao respectively), drive and take my time to enjoy it as that's part of the experience for me. ...

Re: Motorway Mile Munchers

Yes LS is on the list but all hybrids command quite a premium so they come across as very overpriced for a car which will also depreciate to shed money eventually and have much more to go wrong. Go wrong? It's a Lexus, FiL put about 500k on a LS400 and 430 and the only failure over 20 years was the...

Re: Motorway Mile Munchers

Surely a Lexus LS or GS should figure as a mile muncher, no oil burners but they do some Hybrids that makes them more attractive don't they?

Re: Mountain Biking general thread

As it is now lighter in the evenings I've started riding to work a couple of days a week again. I've hardly used a bike over winter so fitness is down and waistline is up :( I'm hoping to rectify both but advancing years certainly slow gains down. The worst thing after a layoff for me is always the...

Re: Desktop multimedia speakers

Would the KRK Rokit suit? They are possibly a little too big but they are loved by DJ's as a decent entry level monitor, there is also a matching sub if you want to extend them a little. I use some old Mordaunt-Short MS10 book shelfs, run off a Teac AV-H500 amp (I needed more inputs and wanted a ded...

Re: Ross Scott's stopkillinggames.com campaign

Have to admit I'd wondered what would happen to Amazon if I canceled my prime but I'd 'bought' a film or some other content. I would assume as long as the login/account still existed you should still have access. I've put a bit of money for battlepasses into star trek fleet command (only subscribe l...

Re: Spotted - Clio and Evo sticker

Well it started quite a conversation that, I thought merv had a trophy at some point but he's had that 330 forever now so obviously not his and a bit far away too. Was just passing on the way out with Claire driving (not allowed for another few days after last weekends appendicitis op) so couldn't h...

Spotted - Clio and Evo sticker

A Clio trophy (assuming real by the central twin pipes) in red/orange with an Evo sticker in the rear window and the plate T20 PHY. Anyone in here? Bit of a punt but not something you see everyday, especially round the corner from your house.

Re: Home CCTV

Are there any good solutions out there for motion-detected cams which can use battery and solar power only? Looking for something I could stick on a shipping container which would be in the middle of a field basically, for a bit of extra security... I have a few Eufy cameras (as I don't want the pe...

Re: The Movie Thread

After watching Dune again on Friday I was reminded about how awful the sound is. You can barely hear them or (because I’m poor and semi detached) wake the neighbours. I am looking forward to watching Dune 2 at the cinema but really get frustrated with movies you have to strain to listen to. I get m...

Re: Break/Tail light bulbs

No local motor factors, ECP or halfrauds? I find it easier to just go in with a bulb and match it up in there and fit in the carpark for this very reason, to easy to mess up online and it doesn't cost much more (at least time saved not screwing around with returns is payback).

Re: First Cars - Insurance

Doesn't help for renewals but taking a more expensive learner policy that doesn't auto cacel (rather than having a £350 one and having to cancel and reinsure elsewhere) results in a drop of £1000 for the first year on a Skoda Citigo. So originally it would have been £350 for the learner policy that ...

Re: Greggs closed!

With the benefit of hindsight and having living through the breach and then recovery of (I still think it is) the biggest attack in history it was easy at that time to justify capability and tooling spend. We must have paid out half as much in consultancy as the insurers paid out to us too. Creating...

Re: Greggs closed!

The latest big-name high street food retailer to suffer an outage due to IT issues. Is this the start of a concerted cyberwar to send the masses into revolt, an uprising against our government, making us ready to accept our new Russian leaders? Or has someone been using a default password on their ...
