Re: Home CCTV

Are there any good solutions out there for motion-detected cams which can use battery and solar power only? Looking for something I could stick on a shipping container which would be in the middle of a field basically, for a bit of extra security... I have a few Eufy cameras (as I don't want the pe...

Re: The Movie Thread

After watching Dune again on Friday I was reminded about how awful the sound is. You can barely hear them or (because I’m poor and semi detached) wake the neighbours. I am looking forward to watching Dune 2 at the cinema but really get frustrated with movies you have to strain to listen to. I get m...

Re: Break/Tail light bulbs

No local motor factors, ECP or halfrauds? I find it easier to just go in with a bulb and match it up in there and fit in the carpark for this very reason, to easy to mess up online and it doesn't cost much more (at least time saved not screwing around with returns is payback).

Re: First Cars - Insurance

Doesn't help for renewals but taking a more expensive learner policy that doesn't auto cacel (rather than having a £350 one and having to cancel and reinsure elsewhere) results in a drop of £1000 for the first year on a Skoda Citigo. So originally it would have been £350 for the learner policy that ...

Re: Greggs closed!

With the benefit of hindsight and having living through the breach and then recovery of (I still think it is) the biggest attack in history it was easy at that time to justify capability and tooling spend. We must have paid out half as much in consultancy as the insurers paid out to us too. Creating...

The latest big-name high street food retailer to suffer an outage due to IT issues. Is this the start of a concerted cyberwar to send the masses into revolt, an uprising against our government, making us ready to accept our new Russian leaders? Or has someone been using a default password on their ...

Father in law moved to the provider around here that I can also get. He was on a Virgin connection and paid for 1GB, which it achieved sometimes (but Virgin have a really big issue with contention ratio) but only at quiet periods. He moved to Toob who do 1GB up and down for £25pcm and binned off Vir...

Re: Domestic Plumbing Total Lack of Pressure

In my old house some tit, put a board over the tank and a hot water tank jacket on top as insultation. This wouldn't have been a problem, but they used chipboard which over time in the cold and damp blew and then collapsed into the tank. The chip board fragments and some of the fibre insulation came...

Re: Confessions of a younger driver.....

One vaguely criminal story involved a fairly mouthy acquaintance who reversed down the local high street as fast as his car would go, when collared by the plod and asked who the fuck he thought he was, he replied 'hooper' and was promptly bollocked.l a d threatened with instant arrest. Another of hi...

First gen c class Mercs used to be cheap to insure for young drivers, but I don’t know how it is these days. http://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202402266967781 £6200 on the Merc! It seems the loop holes are being closed off and nothing is immune to scalping now. Try a newer model like the w204...

Re: The (mainly city-focussed) anti-car movement

There is at least 4 of those bikes that would suit my current situation as a commuter, which is 22 miles of road or a combination of road/off road depending on how I'm feeling and what I want to ride with a secure area to lock it up when I get to the office. That is my current situation, there were ...

Put the disco smoke machine in the driver's footwell of the chimera to try and work out where it was leaking from. Clutch slave cover and hear insulation rivet next to it were the culprits. Re: Your fleet running reports

I just had a look at the pricing, £250 each on a 4-person day, or £125 each for 12-person, the 4-person sounds like much better value if you're looking for some tuition. And apart from @Beany who really is making shitloads in IT now, we could all do with more tuition. So it sounds like we could pro...
