Re: Your fleet running reports
Started to work on fixing the broken driver's seat recline switch on the 928. Some useless fucker has butchered the wiring harness and spliced in a cheap rocker switch and replaced the standard connector with 3(!) cheapo connectors. The OEM 4-way switch was £40. There's 13 wires in total. Por...
Re: Ukraine
The commanders on the ground (that have survived!) will probably be a strategic match for anyone we've got in terms of modern warfare. I'd say there's no substitute for experience and having to evolve to stay alive. The Russian command and control system is very top down and archaic. The commanders...

John Major said some nice things about him, can't imagine similar coming from the current crop when one of them karks it. At least the politicians were competent back then regardless of political persuasion.
Re: Ukraine
Given the state of the rest of Russia's military, I'd be surprised if they've got any functioning nukes left. They need a fair bit of maintenance and given the levels of corruption I'd be amazed if said maintenance had been carried out.
Re: Trump
Trump's choosing Robert Kennedy Junior to be health secretary is next level batshit. Some of the things he's claimed/believes are :- 1. Antidepressants cause school shootings 2. Wifi causes cancer 3. Has repeatedly said vaccines don't work and cause autism. 4. Tap water can turn children gay or tran...

As Frankie Boyle recently tweeted, it's a sad indictment on the state of the world where all we've got to look forward to is Mike Tyson beating a YouTuber to death.

Re: £10k buy vs ~£300 pcm lease
I was considering outright buying a 2014-2015 Cayenne as a family bus to replace the XC40 when it goes back in April. I'd discounted leasing another as prices have shot up. Currently paying £360 pcm for the XC40 and the equivalent lease now for this is well north of £500. The wife's managed to get a...

100% this.Ascender wrote: ↑Thu Nov 07, 2024 9:21 am As one car in a garage of 4 or 5, for regular track stuff I think it would be incredible.
Otherwise, I'd take the Macca. Even if it was just to be a second car. I think living with an Ultima as anything other than an occasional treat car wouldn't be much fun.

Derren Brown regularly exposed "psychics" for the bullshitting charlatans they are. I immediately lose respect for anyone who genuinely believes this horseshit. There's a reason psychics never win the lottery.
Re: Trump
Ukraine is fucked. He'll cut US funding to Ukraine and Russia will be emboldened and end up having a go at the Baltic states which will mean we're at war in the next 5 years.

RIP - I liked his voice on the first 2 albums.
His voice at the end wasn't great though. Look for recent footage of him on YouTube - he sounds like Vic Reeve's Pub Singer.

Re: combi boilers - what should I know?
We went for a Viessmann 111W which is both a higher flow combi and has an internal 40l (ish) how water storage tank. It's not small though Totally depends what you want from one really. Viessmann all the way. Superb units. Even my plumber who isn't affiliated with them, said he's never had a call o...

Re: Your fleet running reports
928 has done almost 600 miles in the last few weeks and has been faultless. First a weekend away with friends, then last weekend the 928.org annual meeting at the Merry Miller and a visit to Classic Motor Hub in Bibury. Worked out my fuel consumption for the last weekend and it returned a very impre...

Re: Your fleet running reports
That interior looks fantastic. Something you picked just because you liked it or is it an oem style from period? The car was originally Linen carpets, burgundy dash and centre console with Mushroom leather seats. I changed the seats to Linen leather with burgundy piping, which was a factory option ...

Re: Your fleet running reports
It does look amazing Andy. I wondered if it was the same colour originally but the years of accumulated grime had made it darker; glad to see it wasn't! Thanks, Simon. Linen is lighter than Mushroom, but the new carpets are the same colour as the originals and you can see how filthy they were. 37 y...

Re: Your fleet running reports
That looks fantastic, very much of its time in the way you’ve restored it 😎 Dave! Thanks, Dave - that's exactly what I was going for. I didn't like the original Mushroom leather that the seats were trimmed in and Linen leather with burgundy piping and the Linen carpets really tied the whole thing t...
