Didn't realise she was in her 80's.

Re: Manual or Auto
Volvo is an auto which is perfect for what it is, similarly the Boxster is a manual which is perfect for what it is. 928 is an auto which I think suits the car perfectly. There's a premium on 928 manuals, but I really don't understand why - the clutch is heavy, it's a dog leg box and the shifts aren...

Re: 2023 review / 2024 plans
2023 wasn't too bad all things considered. Mrs Delphi's managed to snag herself a new job towards the end of the year and the extra money kind of offsets the cost of living increases with mortgage rates going up etc. STILL haven't finished the 928, although finally getting the respray done was a maj...
Re: 737 Max
I've always found Airbus planes to be massively superior to Boeing in terms of comfort, noise and general passenger experience. The 737 debacle has not altered that perception in the slightest. Will we see Airbus starting to make inroads into the domestic US market?
Re: Lights
I've been driving 35 years and the number of times fog has been thick enough to require fog lights is probably in single digits.

Re: Your fleet running reports
Decided to tackle the long running issue of the interior lights on the 928. They've never worked as long as I've had the car. They turn on when you switch the light in the always on position but don't work with the doors opening. Strangely, they do work with the hatch. Relay seems to work (although ...

Re: Car Plans 2024
The Boxster was an unexpected acquisition last year, but I've kind of fallen in love with it and it's nice having a spare Porsche as it allows me to attend events when the 928 is in bits. It's also a nice reliable second car for when we need it. The Mrs wants me to sell it in the summer, but prices ...
BYD Seal
Never heard of BYD before, but this looks like quite a compelling proposition if you're looking for an EV.

Re: Your fleet running reports
I was going to post this in moaning but having considered it, I'm more bemused than annoyed. I've listed the Galaxie for sale on ebay. It went live last night. The first question came in and with trepidation I opened the email: Hi how many owners has it had ? It's a harmless question but - the car ...

Well that sucks, Dave.
Glad you got your passport sorted quickly, though.

Surprised he lasted to 65, tbh. Fairytale of New York is probably the Christmas song I hate the most.

I still feel like I'm in my late 20's - it's only occasionally I remember I'm 55. Still doing judo (although not actively competing at the moment, I might have a punt at the British Masters next year for a giggle) and having a PT session every week, so I'm not in too bad a shape. It's weird being th...

Roof down in the Boxster on a summer's day going down a great country road is one of life's great driving experiences. Visibility isn't great with the roof up, but the roof down experience makes it worthwhile. Even on a clear cold day, heated seats and the excellent heater mean roof down is always a...

Re: Crumbing parents
Lost my dad to Lewy Body Dementia almost 8 years ago now at the relatively young age of 68. He wasn't in the best of health before that (mostly of his own doing - he was pretty overweight). My mum's 76 and in pretty good health. She walks a few miles with friends twice a week and is generally active...

Re: Should have gone private.
I guy I used to work with had 3 daughters within 2 school years because he and his wife were very fertile and... enthusiastic. Upon arriving home after his vasectomy, they wanted to check everything still worked rather than following the advice of resting. It didn't go well. "Like a couple of ...
