Re: Do automatic ICE cars need tachometers/rev-counters?

Yep - the much more useful one is oil temperature rather than pressure so you're not hooning it before its up to temperature - the 911 takes a looong time for the oil to get completely warm. VXR8 had battery voltage, oil pressure, and oil temp. I'd agree the latter was most useful. One of the reaso...

I do not want to watch Gav turn himself inside out on national TV. :?

But congrats! That's a big deal!

engine ingestion fatality - Schipol . Not much info available at this point, but RIP. Rule 1 is don't stick your head in the spinny thing. :( I seem to remeber something similar happening to someone on a US aircraft carrier. Quintuple crown

I've had a nice nap during the Monaco GP and I've got the indy 500 on now. The triple crown has been mentioned and one of the drivers was hoping to do the indy 500 and the NASCAR Coca-Cola 600. It made me consider what should be added to the triple crown. The Daytona 500 seems sensible for NASCAR an...

Re: Bye Bye Sunak..

I can’t imagine that anyone wants mps who lie to them. Plenty of people actively want Boris to come back, not just as an MP but as PM. So yes, it seems a large number do want an MP and Prime Minister who lies to them. Which demonstrates that democracy has failed. Asking the general public to make d...

Even a lightly modified Nissan 200 without traction control can be a handful, probably realistic reflection of my real world driving skills. This week I have mostly been swearing at a pretend KTM Crossbow at pretend Imola on AC. It's well known as a crap car but a nicked setup has helped. Now...

Hey @IanF , help me understand. I understand that during turbulence the plane could fall and people would be weightless, but in so many of these stories you hear of people hitting the plane roof with force, as if the plane is being 'pulled' down faster than gravity. What gives? Wind pushes the plan...

Car seats are also blooming heavy, although I guess you could lighten them if they no longer have to be crash resistant!
Taking out the air bag and seatbelt pretensioner would probably be a good start.

That's very cool! 8-)

The person I bought the BMW seat from sold the passenger side one to someone who was making a seat. The big thing to consider is that the squab on a car seat is much thicker than an office chair so it could end up with the seat not going low enough.

Something incredibly loud flew over the house yesterday that didn't show up on Flightradar. It was above the clouds so no visual but the only things I've heard that compare were a B-52 or a B-1B. I was down there yesterday and heard something - mid-afternoon ish, perhaps between 3.00 and 4.00pm? Lo...

Bumble has got me more dates, Tinder is a wretched hive of scum and villainy. I've only had one match on Hinge and it's got me into my current relationship and she seems remarkably sane by my standards.

Re: HMRC Automated Phone System

I think my record is 2 hours on hold. They're chronically understaffed so just don't have the capacity to deal with anything. I had a lovely example last year when HMRC didn't update the company's Direct Debit and fined us £12k. I appealed it online but it came down to a multiple choice question tha...
