Re: what car thread - Lotus Edition
Yeah, Dans conversion cost is £15.5+Vat. Without trying to speak for Dan, I understand it is from £15.5k+vat. Which presumably gets you a rebuilt standard spec engine. I suspect most (all?) customers seek some upgrades for moh powah, which will require moh dollars. I don’t do many bone stock builds...

Re: what car thread - Lotus Edition
Cost me about £3.5k to overhaul my suspension on my S2 including Nitrons, Spitfire toe links, bushes, etc and everything cleaned and shotblasted (with HPE). But that was years ago, so probably more like 5-6k now just for that alone. Plus brakes, plus engine work, plus the other fancy shiny bits. It...

Re: what car thread - Lotus Edition
I don't condemn cars generally, I do my best to improve whatever people bring to me, usually by doing twice the work that their budget allows for  I was on my 4th S1 before I started this business so first and foremost i'm an enthusiast rather than your average miserable garage proprietor that ...

Re: what car thread - Lotus Edition
i’m don’t do green cars! Not even with yellow stripes and red interiors? Fuck me, that is a terrible edition visually  i didn’t get that far! What’s the thoughts on an S1 111s? Quite possibly the pick of the bunch if you don't want to pay the premium for the lumpy sport 160. The vvc K series i...

Re: what car thread - Lotus Edition
Likewise if you're ever in the midlands you're very welcome to come and have a look round, i've usually got half a dozen or so different models in.
Today I have a V6 Exige, a 4 pot s2 exige, a honda S2. a honda S1, an s2 111s and a sport 160.

Re: what car thread - Lotus Edition
They're nowhere near as good to drive, the ABS is appalling unless you get the 4 channel setup and makes the brake pedal feel awful. The engine and box is really heavy and they don't feel anywhere near as responsive as an elise. Again its all relative, but your budget is good so get a good one.

They can't be real functioning human beings surely? Labour have been in power 5 minutes and haven't done anything yet so what are they getting so worked up about.

Re: what car thread - Lotus Edition
160's are still my favourite S1, they're just about fast enough to be fun and the grumpiness of the engine makes them feel a bit special compared to a cooking model. Standard S1's are still fantastic to drive in isolation but they're too slow nowadays. Unless you're a proper lotus fanboy / enthusias...

Re: what car thread - Lotus Edition
I think I’d save up a little longer or take out some finance and get an s1 exige because to my eyes they’re just about perfect. I doubt you’ll lose any money on any of them, try a few and buy whatever looks and feels right. They look nice but they’re shit to drive by 21st century standards. Slow as...

Re: what car thread - Lotus Edition
I’d go for a supercharged Toyota s2 Elise if the budget will stretch to one of those. They’re fast enough to be fun and you won’t have to fuck about with it other than service it once a year.

Bang the fuckers up I say, inconsiderate cretins. Maybe while they're having their sabbaticals at his majesties pleasure they'll think of a way to contribute in a positive manner to the climate debate instead of trying to destroy things.
