Re: EV Thread

That’s the nice thing about software though, they can find ways to use that extra space.

i3 went to new owner yesterday, I’m regretting it a bit already. Hoping they won’t hit “modern classic” status too soon so I can have another in future.

Re: EV Thread

I’d have no worries on modern wiring (RBCO consumer unit etc) and plugging straight in - no extension leads. The charger should have a temp sensor on the 3 pin plug and cut if it did get too hot.

The problems come with dodgy old wiring, there’s still wire fuse boards out there and decades of DIY ...

Re: R/C car/off-roader for a 5 year old

+1 for FTX Tracer, think my son was about 6 when we got it, haven’t smashed too many bits. Small and light enough that it doesn’t have too much energy in a crash but big enough to work ok on cut grass.

Don’t bother with the brushless version, brushed is plenty.

Re: EV Thread

Picked up our Honda eny1 yesterday - it's a pleasant thing and I'm very happy for the price. Will do a real-world 200+ miles easily, adaptive cruise and lane keeping works great, plenty quick enough, the massive screen is responsive and easy to use - it helps that it always stays in three zones ...

Re: Parents car you hated most as a kid

In between crashing a Fiat 127 and buying the Fiat Uno that would eventually be my first car, my mum had a Vauxhall Chevette. I look at pics now and quite like the shape but at the time I mostly hated the vinyl seats which were always too hot or cold.

Actually, after the Uno she bought a mk1 Tigra ...

Saw two Denza B5s this morning heading out of London on the A13. Most badging taped up, on trade plates. Wonder if they’re gearing up for a UK launch.

Mine is from Marshalls in Reading. Apparently Honda have about 1000 of them, they're letting dealers market it.

https://www.marshall.co.uk/honda/new-car-offers/eny1/

My quote with £700 paint is

Cash price £32,740.00 (after the £8750 "Honda EV grant')
Total deposit £10,500.00. (this is 10k ...

Re: EV Thread

Went for it - looks like I'll be 3 days in office soon so something comfier with adaptive cruise was calling me. Also, much as I love the i3, it doesn't really work for us with tall and growing kids in the back.

Nice 2019 i3S, 72k miles, grey with brown leather, will be up for sale in a couple of ...

That’s ace. I’m lusting after that Skylift too.

Need to get the Monster recommissioned this year, I’ve ordered a load of bits and hoping that several years of neglect under a cover hasn’t been too harsh on it.

Re: EV Thread

Honda seem to be desperate to sell some eny1s again, if anyone is after some cheap EV motoring.

£8750 “Honda EV grant”, £10k finance contribution, £3k or so of retailer support, 0% finance and 5 years warranty/servicing. Works out around £200pm, £500 deposit.

Re: EV Thread

Wouldn’t let that put you off. Most of the towns along the England-Wales border have rapid chargers now and Llandrinidod Wells has a few. Lots of the towns around there have 22kw AC (R5 will take 11kw) if you’re really in a pinch.

I hope they are issuing medals for the drone operators too - some of the footage (luge, downhill skiing etc) is just superb 8-)

Re: Can I get a TV that's just a TV?

I do the same - the LG remote is tucked away except for the odd time we want non-BBC broadcast TV, the AppleTV remote wakes up the TV and puts it straight on that input.

Quicker all around, no screen clutter, you can type searches or paste passwords etc from your iphone, and it does a decent job of ...

Re: Any power bank whores about?

I’ve got a little 288wh Allpowers one, it’s a perfect size if you’re not running anything heavy. Will run our little compressor fridge for about 24h tops. Gets used a lot in the family bus as there’s no rear power so keeps the kids iPads going on long trips.

Have a 1000wh Jackery for longer ...

Had 8 months off after redundancy, but really enjoying the new job. Got bathroom finished. Gave back Leaf and bought an i3S which I’m still really enjoying (even if the kids hate it).

Stepwgn is fine but could do with some tidying and I still have some sketched out ideas for a basic camper setup ...

Re: Your fleet running reports

My Civic that was stolen in 2011 disappeared for several years (probably run on a fake plate) then spotted it in my local shopping centre car park. Couldn’t hang around to find out what actually happened to it.

Anyway, today’s quick DIY was a pair of new gas struts for the boot of the i3. Almost ...

Re: Any Sparky's in the house

Get an EICR done for £200 or so, which will test the rest of the wiring in the house too and most electricians will want before changing it anyway. If that all checks out then replacing the consumer unit is a straightforward job.

Should be well under £1000 for both unless there's some other ...

I was pondering a PS5 if there's some good Black Friday offers but I think I'll put it off for another year

GT7 actually plays great on my PS4 Pro and I have way too much other stuff to finish. Enjoying original RDR (which I didn't play at the time) on the switch2.

Fuck, now the offers ...
